Dr. Mor Amitai - CEO
Mor Amitai has been with the company since 1994. Between 1991 and 1995 worked in speech recognition, using HMM long before they were used in bioinformatics, at Efrat Future Technologies Ltd., a subsidiary of Comverse Technologies. Between 1986 and 1991 he carried out algorithm and communications system
development in the IDF, which he left as a captain. Has a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Physics, a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Mathematics, all from the Hebrew University.
Simchon Faigler - CEO, Compugen Inc.
Simchon Faigler served eight years in the IDF's Talpiot unit, during the first three of which he completed a BA at the Hebrew University in Physics and Mathematics. For the following five years he was seconded to Tadiran's communications division where he defined and developed rapid hardware for smart communications systems.
Martin Gerstel - Chairman of the Board and CFO
Martin Gerstel was one of the founders of ALZA Corporation, a multi-billion dollar market valuation pharmaceutical company that develops new technologies for controlled drug delivery. Since ALZA's foundation at 1969, till retiring as CEO of ALZA in 1993, Mr. Gerstel held various management positions, including President, COO, and Co-Chairman. Since 1993 Mr. Gerstel has focused on board and consulting activities with a number of educational, civic and research organizations, including, among others, Stanford University, Weizmann Institute of Science, and Teva Pharmaceuticals. Has a BS degree from Yale University and an MBA from Stanford University.
Salomon Z. Langer, VP Molecular Biology and Drug Discovery
Dr. Langer (M.D.) joined Compugen from Synthelabo, Paris, where he was
President of R&D of Synthelabo. Prior to that, he headed the
Department of Pharmacology at the Wellcome Research Laboratories in
England. Dr Langer's scientific contributions have resulted in more than
450 publications. Among his numerous international awards are: the 1999
"Lieber Prize for Research in Schizophrenia" awarded by the National
Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD) of the
US, the 1993 Eli Lilly Award in Neurosciences of the European College of
Neuropsychopharmacology, the 1991 Ciba Award in Hypertension from the
American Heart Association, and the 1991 Otto Krayer Award
from the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental
Therapeutics. Some of the many honorary posts held by Dr. Langer
include President of the Latin American Society of Pharmacology,
President of the ECNP, Vice President of the Collegium Internationale
Neuropsychopharmacologicum (CINP) and Honorary Professor at the
University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Lior D. Ma'ayan - VP and Chief Operating Officer
Lior Ma'ayan joined Compugen after 13 years in the imaging technology field. He held various positions in research, business development, sales and lastly as the Managing Director of a division all with Scitex Corporation in Israel and Europe. Prior to that, he served as a Research Officer in the Israeli Air Force, developing image processing algorithms. A graduate of the IDF Talpiot program, he holds a B.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics from the Hebrew University, a M.Sc. in Behavioral Sciences from the Technion, Israel Technological Institute, and a MBA from INSEAD, France.
Eli Mintz - President, Compugen Inc.
Eli Mintz served eight years in the IDF's Talpiot unit, during the first three of which he completed a B.Sc. at the Hebrew University in Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science.
For the following five years he was seconded to Israel Aircraft Industries' Mabat subsidiary where he developed algorithms, wrote signal processing software, defined
signal processing hardware and managed a software development team. Has an MBA from INSEAD and subsequently worked as Marketing Director of Orckit Communications.
Dr. Ron Y. Pinter, VP Research and Development
Ron Pinter joined Compugen after 16 years with the IBM Research Lab in Israel, where he conducted research and held various management positions in the areas of VLSI design tools, compiler optimization, and information organization; his most recent role was Program Manager for Computer Science. In addition, he was a Member of the Technical Staff in the Computing Sciences Research Center, AT&T Bell Laboratories (1982-83), a Visiting Scientist with the Department of Computer Science at Yale University (1988-89), and a Visiting Research Staff Member at the IBM Almaden Research Center (1997-98). He is also a Senior Adjunct faculty with the Computer Science Department at the Technion.
Ron Y. Pinter received his B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in 1975, and the S.M. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1980 and 1982, respectively. Dr. Pinter has published extensively in technical journals and presented his work at international conferences. He is a senior member of the IEEE Computer Society, a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and a member of ACM SIGPLAN. He was a member of the IBM Academy of Technology (1996-99) and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Scientific Programming (1992-98).
